On October 6, Sea Tech Week 2026 will host a workshop titled “Space in the Service of the Maritime Sector: From Regional Strategies to Shared Best Practices”. This session, co-organized by MORESPACE and Hytech-imaging, will highlight the efforts led by Brest Métropole and the Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique to build a sector of excellence at the intersection of the space and maritime sectors, while promoting the sharing of experiences among regions, particularly through testimonials about the Cosmeo program.

The Cosmeo program will be presented as a concrete example of this dynamic.

Supported by CNES as part of the France 2030 initiative, Cosmeo transforms Earth observation data into coastal intelligence services for the monitoring and management of coastal areas.

The program is led by a consortium bringing together Hytech-imaging, i-Sea, and eOdyn—three member companies of the Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique, based in Brest and Bordeaux. It provides a concrete example of this ecosystem’s ability to develop operational services based on space data, thanks to close collaboration between industry, research, and end users, with a focus on co-creation and the gradual adoption of innovative space-based products.

The workshop will also open up the discussion at the European level by exploring potential synergies with other coastal regions—such as Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, Greece, and Croatia—that face similar challenges in coastal management and the development of the blue economy.

This broader perspective will make it possible to share lessons learned, identify common needs, and foster future collaborations centered on space-based services for coastal areas.
